On March 31, 2024, Madelia Optometric will be moving into a new space. The property (located at 18 Benzel Ave NW) was originally built in the mid-1900s by Janet & Howard Dysthe as a Standard (later Amoco) gas station. Since that time it underwent many renovations, including the addition of a carwash. The property has in the time been much more than just a gas station – it was also a golf store, a quilting shop, and most recently home to the Madelia Times Messenger. The building is undergoing extreme renovation of both the interior and exterior, and will soon be fitted as a brand-new and freshly designed state-of-the-art facility for Madelia Optometric. The new space will be equipped with multiple full-scope examination rooms as well as a large pre-testing room, a larger optical dispensing area, and additional wheelchair-accessible facilities. While an extreme renovation of the building is required to turn it into a proper space for an optometry practice, we have aimed to maintain some of the historical aspects of the building, and you will find information in the new location about the history of the space!
We are CURRENTLY located in the lower level of the Madelia Health Care Center in Madelia, Minnesota.
Directions to our CURRENT office
From Highway 60 (east or west): Take the County Road 3 exit (east exit for Madelia). Turn left at the top of the exit ramp. Turn left at the 4-way stop onto Drew Avenue. The Health Care Center is one block down on your right-hand side. Madelia Optometric is in the lower level.
From Highway 15 (southbound): Do NOT take the Madelia/LaSalle Road!!! Instead, turn right immediately before the junction with Highway 60, onto County Road 58. There is a blue sign directing toward the hospital. County Road 58 turns into Drew Avenue. Go straight at the 4-way stop. The Health Care Center is one block down on your right-hand side. Madelia Optometric is in the lower level.
